Cities are on the frontlines of climate change in regard to both mitigation and adaptation. The Urban Climate Change Research Network’s Second Assessment Report on Climate Change in Cities (ARC3.2) is the second in a series of global, science-based reports to examine climate risks, adaptation strategies, and mitigation actions in cities. The book explicitly explores the implications of changing climatic conditions on urban physical infrastructure and social sectors and intersectoral interdependencies. ARC3.2 gives concrete solutions for cities for mitigation and adaptation; urban planning and design; equity and environmental justice; and carbon governance. This session will share key insights from the report, in particular the five pathways to urban transformation for cities to fulfill their climate change leadership potential.
